Rachel SedaccaSaturday, September 25th7:00 PM Door7:30 PM Start | ![]() |
Well, the house was rockin' when Rachael Sage brought her fabulous outfits and her star-spangled keyboard here to the Magpie Nest. Much fun was had by all.
Next up is another Rachel we've wanted to have here for quite a while: Rachel Sedacca, whose band of bluesy soulful Americana will charm the socks off your bare feet. :-)
Hailing from Ventura's Gold Coast of Southern California, this troubadour writes songs of adventure on the road in her 35 foot, vintage 1971 schoolbus "Patience" with a clever perspective on life. Influenced by the seasoned, bluesy style of Bonnie Raitt, the work ethic of the Grateful Dead and the raw emotion of Janis Joplin, Rachel's stage presence is strong and undeniable. Her first release, “Lucky Like Me” earned her the coveted 1st place in American Songwriter magazines bi-monthly lyric contest for her grassy song of the California gold rush “Days of ‘49”. She has toured Japan, including playing at Nagoya Castle. She has also headlined on Country Jamboree, joined by southern California’s Tom Corbett on mandolin & guitar. She has played many of the legendary clubs and venues around the Los Angeles area as well as music festivals such as Live Oak Music Festival and GroovePhest 2010. Rachel is a true entertainer and always great time wherever she may be.As with all our artists, you can hear what Rachael sounds like by going to her website -- but the best way to hear her will be to come to the concert!
As the concert is on a Saturday, the door will open at 7:00 pm, and the music and laughter will start at about 7:30 pm. Suggested per-person donation is $15 (all of which goes to Rachel). Her CDs (including her new one "Patience Pays") will be available for purchase (in case you don't have them already) so that you can take the music home or share it with friends. Limeade will be on tap; if you'd rather something different and/or stronger, you are welcome to bring it. We also have a table for munchies before the show, during intermission, and afterward – so bring whatever finger foods you and others will enjoy. And we’ll also have some version of a delectable cold oriental salad available
Please let us know if you’re joining us, so we can save you a seat.
Send an email to concerts@magpiehouseconcerts.com or give us a call at
(801) 487-5552 to reserve your space.
Grant and Laurel, your bright-eyed hosts (and as always, Susanne in memory)

Many people have asked that we let them know about other house concerts or similar events, and so we've decided to give it a try. However, we're both very mindful of how much unwanted email all of us get, day in and day out, and don't want to contribute to that onslaught in the slightest. So, if you'd rather only get announcements only about the Magpie House Concerts series, please let us know, and we'll promptly take care of it. (And just to help you decide, we can assure you that we will not be sending out more than one extra announcement a month, and often not even that much.)
If you are on our mailing list, you will hear about things first; so if you are not, why not sign up now? We promise not to spam you or let anyone else know your address. And if you know someone else who'd be interested, of course, please pass the word along.
